Dog Parks in Midland
The City of Midland runs two off-leash dog parks.
1Hogan’s Run Dog Park sits inside Hogan Park at 1201 E. Wadley Ave. It is a five-acre fenced park with separate large-dog and small-dog areas, agility equipment, drinking water, restrooms, and shade.
2Waggin’ Trail Beal Dog Park is inside Beal Park at 5200 W. Wall St. on the west side. The city lists it as fenced with separate areas for large and small dogs, water, and benches, open sunrise to sunset.
Outside the dog parks, dogs in any city park must be on a leash no longer than 10 feet.
Where to Walk Your Dog
Midland’s larger parks all allow leashed dogs. Our full parks guide covers each in detail; the ones dog owners use most are:
- Wadley-Barron Park, 1001 N. A St. Seven acres around the duck pond, with a pavilion and picnic tables.
- Windlands Park, 1001 W. Dengar Ave. Fifty-five acres with a walking track, restrooms, and a xeriscape demonstration garden.
- Hogan Park, 1201 E. Wadley Ave. At 620 acres it is Midland’s largest park, with a walking track and picnic areas alongside the dog park.
- Grafa Park, Midkiff Road at Ma Mar Avenue. A smaller neighborhood park with a playground.
- Sibley Nature Center, 1307 E. Wadley Ave. Leashed dogs are allowed on the 49-acre trail system, open sunrise to sunset. Owners are asked to pick up after their dogs.
One place to leave the dog at home: Watersong Wild Space (formerly the I-20 Wildlife Preserve) at 2201 S. Midland Dr. does not allow pets, citing stress on wildlife and rattlesnakes on the trails.

City Rules to Know
Midland requires a current rabies vaccination for all dogs, cats, and ferrets, and an annual city license, which runs about $10 and requires proof of vaccination. Dogs cannot run at large, and in parks the leash limit is 10 feet. Animal Services offers microchipping (free for city residents for a limited time, otherwise $8) and spay-and-neuter vouchers for residents with proof of residency and a rabies record. Details are on the Animal Services pages at midlandtexas.gov, and the full ordinance is Chapter 6-2 of the city code.
Dog Events Through the Year
The Midland RockHounds host Bark in the Park nights at Momentum Bank Ballpark each spring (two dates in April in 2026). The Midland Humane Coalition’s Hot Dog Run, a 5K and one-mile with leashed dogs and a costume contest, held its 12th edition in May 2026. Woof Gang hosts seasonal in-store “Yappy Hours.” Check each organizer for the next dates.
