Veterans Day is Wednesday, November 11, and Midland’s biggest public celebrations land on the Saturday before it, November 7. Here is what is on the calendar so far, with details from each organizer.
Saturday, November 7: Parade and Celebration
The 2nd Annual Midland Veterans Day Parade and Celebration is free and family friendly. It begins with a 1 p.m. flyover and a parade from the Duck Pond along A Street to Midland High School. The afternoon then moves to Centennial Park at 200 W. Wall Street, with a Kids Zone, food trucks, a Veteran Resource Village, guest speakers, and free hot dogs and water while supplies last. Fireworks lead into a free Eli Young Band concert at 7 p.m.
Last year’s parade closed streets along the route and around Centennial Park for much of the day, so allow extra time if you are driving downtown. The organizers’ page has the latest updates.
Saturday, November 7: Midland College Veterans Day Celebration
The Midland College Veterans Day Celebration is a free community day at the college’s campus at 3600 N. Garfield Street. A recognition ceremony is set for 10 a.m., and the day includes job and resource fairs and a petting zoo for kids. It runs until mid-afternoon, which makes it easy to pair with the parade, since the parade does not start until 1 p.m.
Veterans Day 5K, 10K and Ruck
The 2026 Veterans Day 5K, 10K and Ruck also runs Saturday morning at Midland College, with most races starting at 8 a.m. and a 1K Troop in Training starting at 7:35 a.m. Ruck participants carry canned goods that go to the West Texas Food Bank after the race. Check the registration page for current entry details.
Planning Your Saturday
If you want to see both celebrations, a simple order works: the morning at Midland College for the race or the ceremony, lunch, then downtown for the parade at 1 p.m. and the afternoon at Centennial Park. Families with young children can plan around the Kids Zone downtown and the petting zoo at the college.
Veterans Day Itself, November 11
We are still collecting events for Wednesday, November 11. Schools, churches, restaurants and civic groups often hold their own recognitions that week. Our events calendar is updated as hosts submit them, and you can add a public event through Add Your Event.
